Expansion
Edwin Bouldin, an architect from Winston-Salem with experience designing buildings to fit unobtrusively into historical settings, was selected to design a functional and compatible structure. His final design, which was approved by the Wake Forest Historic Preservation Commission, is a modern building that resembles a complex of outbuildings and is historical in scale, details, colors, and materials.
Based on Bouldin’s plans, it was decided that $2 million was needed to build the structure, and another $1 million would be required to create an endowment to cover future operating expenses.
